    Esercitazioni Linguistiche

    Modalità svolgimento lezioni
LM 1 : There are two lessons per week from October to May for a total of 90 hours. Levels C1 and C2 will have the same theme/vocabulary focus but activities will be tailored to C1 level. Lesson A concentrates on listening skills and speaking skills, comprehension, pronunciation, and presenting to others, as well as interaction (active listening, polite interruptions, etc). E.g.: start with a quiz on medical vocabulary to see what students already know, such as collocations or false friends (cura vs cure); next, watch a video on a medical discovery, taking notes, and finally, discussion of the video and/or complementary material in groups or research on similar issues and presenting ideas. Lesson B concentrates on level-appropriate grammar review and expansion, reading and writing, with an eye to academic writing in particular. C1 will do a systematic revision/presentation of advanced grammar topics throughout the first semester. C2 will do a needs-based review and practice the most difficult topics. These will be applied to reading and writing. E.g. a lesson B might pick up on the topic from Lesson A either with reading and analysis or with students writing about a similar innovation. Attention will be paid to self-editing and the elimination of fossilized errors. In the SECOND SEMESTER, many lessons will be centered around the work students are doing with the docente, for example with close readings of articles chosen by the docente or practice exams. Presentations to be given in the docente class may be prepared in the CEL class, etc. LM 2 : There are two lessons per week from October to May for a total of 90 hours. All four skills will be practiced. Class participation and pair/group work are essential. As with LM 1, we will attempt to split our focus in order to give equal time to listening/speaking (lesson A) and reading/writing/grammar (lesson B). We will work on listening skills that can transfer to speaking skills- hearing the stress on certain words, connected speech, listening without a visual (phone call or similar) understanding accented or regional speech. We may practice transcribing what we hear. At lesson B, we will attempt to complete the work begun in LM 1, including further work on flow and cohesion, rhetorical devices, descriptive language, whilst still practicing the fundamentals of paragraphing and supporting arguments. Reading will continue to be an essential tool for style and vocabulary expansion. The dispensa will contain non-fiction and podcasts/ inteviews. We will also have lessons in the library regarding research techniques and the correct use of AI/ Search engines. As with LM 1, the 2nd semester will be deeply connected to the docente course, playing a supporting role.
