Modalità svolgimento lezioni
Il corso si basa su lezioni frontali, tenute in lingua inglese, e su esercitazioni della lingua e la grammatica inglese che prevederanno una partecipazione attiva da parte delle studentesse e degli studenti durante il corso. Si consiglia vivamente alle studentesse e agli studenti di venire a lezione con un computer portatile/tablet/smartphone che abbia l’accesso a Internet per usare lo spazio eLearning.
EN: The course is based on lectures, delivered in English, and on practical grammar and language practice exercises that will require active participation from students throughout the course. Students are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with Internet access to class in order to use the eLearning platform.

Modalità esami
The written exam is in digital format, synchronous in person at Unistrasi on the exam date.
The exam is generally taken after you have completed the full academic year.
So, if you start your course in September 2026, you would take the exam starting in June 2027.
You will need to bring your own device (pc or tablet, not smartphone). If you do not have a suitable device, you may request a university tablet (see next question).
The Exam will be hosted on the platform www.exam.net
Access Exam.net via the access key code which will be given to you at the time of the exam.

EXAM FORMAT
CEL written exam sections:
(1 hour 30 minutes total not including breaks)
A.)
Listening & Use of English & Writing (75 minutes total)
A.1)
Listening- 2 tasks
The 2 tasks will be chosen from these 2 types:
Part 1 FCE (8 short extracts-multiple choice)
Part 4 FCE (1 track; multiple choice)
A.2)
Use of English- 1 task
Task type rotates each exam session;
prepare for all types.
Part 1 FCE (multiple choice cloze) or
Part 2 FCE (open cloze) or
Part 3 FCE (word formation)
B)
Writing- 2 tasks
Task 1: -Academic email (approx 50 words)
Such as: request an appointment with a professor;
request information about an Erasmus experience;
request or confirm participation in a special event.
-Use appropriate language, register, grammar etc.
Task 2: Academic essay: (approx 200-250 words)
-Format: introduction, two body paragraphs, conclusion. (4 paragraphs in total)
Task type rotates; prepare for both.
Discussion/Opinion or Problem/Solution
-Correct register, grammar, spelling, punctuation, discourse markers, lexicon, organization
C)
Reading- 1 task; 15 min
Part 5 FCE (reading-multiple choice) or
Part 7 FCE (reading-multiple matching)
Task type rotates; prepare for both.
ORAL EXAM:
The Oral exam will take place in the days following the written exam. The oral exam includes both the Docente and CEL parts. All students who take the written exam will receive an email notification some days ahead of their oral exam slot, telling them if they have passed the written exam and, in this case, the day/time of their oral exam. The order of the oral exam will be determined by order of sign-up for the written exam.
