Modalità svolgimento lezioni
The course runs as a year-long simulation. In the first semester, students apply for a real job; in the second, they "work" for a company. Instruction takes the form of hands-on writing workshops, mock interviews, negotiation exercises, and genuine email correspondence between student "companies", all built around one job advertisement each student chooses, spanning everything from the CV to the final day on the job. Grammar teaching and exam simulation tasks are embedded in each lesson.
Il corso si svolge come una simulazione annuale. Nel primo semestre, gli studenti si candidano per un lavoro reale; nel secondo, "lavorano" per un'azienda. La didattica si articola in laboratori di scrittura pratici, colloqui simulati, esercitazioni di negoziazione e un'autentica corrispondenza via email tra le "aziende" degli studenti, il tutto costruito attorno a un annuncio di lavoro scelto da ciascuno studente, dal CV fino all'ultimo giorno di lavoro. L'insegnamento della grammatica e le simulazioni d'esame sono integrati in ogni lezione.

Modalità esami
1. Esame scritto: CEFR C1.1 [1 ore 20 min]
Part 1- Listening [10 min]–1 listening task: Multiple choice
Part 2 -Use of English and Writing [1 hour 10 min]
1 Grammar-based task: Gap Fill (open cloze), True /False, Matching and/or short answer questions on 8 grammar points: Aspect, passives with modals, clauses, cleft sentences, modal verbs, reported speech, possessives, phrasal verbs for work.
1 Reading task- Formal or semi-formal factual text or journalistic text- multiple choice
1 Writing task- Formal or semi-formal email for the workplace, 200-220 words
1 Extra credit task- (Applicable to passing papers.) Vocabulary for professional purposes. See the e-learning platform for topics. Gap Fill (open cloze), True /False, Matching, Multiple choice and/or short answer.
2. Esame orale: CEFR C1.1 [10 min per student]
Students must come to the oral exam with TWO PRINTED copies of both their (1) a 1-page CV/ resume AND (2) a covering letter OR a personal statement, 250 to 350 words. One copy is for the examiner, and one copy is for the student. No digital copies are allowed during the exam.
Task 1- Timing: [2 minutes]- Reading aloud
Candidates read their covering letter or personal statement. Assessment Focus: pronunciation, intonation and fluency.
Task 2- Timing: [8] minutes- Simulation of a mini job interview
Candidates are given a job ad (150-200 words), appropriate for their degree program, and are asked interview questions. The aim is to justify suitability for the position, using more formal language. This includes promoting their qualifications and asking appropriate questions. Assessment Focus: Content, grammar and vocabulary accuracy, especially interrogative forms, verb tenses, modal verbs, pronunciation, intonation and fluency.

Curriculum vitae italiano
Eva Lo Verde insegna Lingua e Traduzione 2 (inglese) presso il Centro CLASS dell'Università per Stranieri di Siena, dove lavora come CEL dal 2023. Ha conseguito la qualifica CELTA per l'insegnamento.
Il suo percorso accademico comprende due incarichi di ricerca presso l'Università di Siena, Dipartimento di Scienze Sociali, Politiche e Cognitive: un assegno di ricerca (2019–2021) come social media manager per il progetto UDOO Lab, e una borsa di ricerca (2021–2022) sulla comunicazione e disseminazione di risultati scientifici in ambito di sistemi embedded, entrambi svolti in italiano e inglese.
Prima di Unistrasi ha insegnato inglese generale e per il mondo del lavoro a bambini, adolescenti e adulti presso istituti privati. Oltre alla didattica, si occupa di traduzione e interpretariato italiano-inglese, comprese traduzioni istituzionali per Unistrasi e interpretariato per relatori ospiti.

Eva Lo Verde teaches Lingua e Traduzione 2 (English) at Centro CLASS, Università per Stranieri di Siena, where she has worked as a CEL (language lecturer) since 2023. She holds a CELTA teaching qualification.
Her academic career includes two research fellowships at the Università di Siena, Dipartimento di Scienze Sociali, Politiche e Cognitive: an assegno di ricerca (2019–2021) as SocialMedia Manager for the UDOO Lab project, and a borsa di ricerca (2021–2022) on Communication and Dissemination of Embedded-Systems research, both conducted bilingually in Italian and English.
Before joining Unistrasi she taught general and business English to children, teenagers, and adults in private institutes. Alongside teaching, Eva works as a translator and interpreter between Italian and English, including institutional translation for Unistrasi and interpreting for visiting speakers.
